Community flower bed being prepared for Remembrance Sunday

Community flower bed being prepared for Remembrance Sunday

Paul Kay, Kate Suttle and Pete Shaw - gardeners extraordinaire!

Horticulturalist Kate Suttle (centre) has kindly taken over maintenance of the Teddington Society community flower bed opposite the war memorial in Hampton Road.

Kate is already well-known in Teddington, because for some time she managed Elleray Hall. But now she’s embarking on a horticultural career and hopes in due course to earn a Kew qualification.

“We’re delighted she’s joined the Society team” said Sheena Harold, our Chairman, “and her knowledge and expertise really will make all the difference.”

Given the location of the flower bed, Kate joins us at a particularly apposite moment: people from across Teddington will gather at the war memorial on November 11th to mark the centenary of the cessation of hostilities in the First World War. Here she is with Paul Kay (left) and Pete Shaw, preparing the bed for its important day.
