Martin Blaiklock - an objective and knowledgeable expert

We were shocked by the recent news of Martin’s death from cancer on April 2nd in the Princess Alice Hospice. He wasn’t perhaps that well known to the membership, but to the Planning and Transport Groups Martin was held in high regard for his contribution over 20 years to many of the big issues which threated Teddington: among others the Ham Hydro scheme, disposal of the North Lane Car Park, the proposed police custody centre, and parking/cycling issues in the High Street.

An internationally respected project financier by profession, Martin always expressed himself in an objective and knowledgeable way, which added weight to our arguments. He had a wide range of skills covering several disciplines which he had developed after reading chemistry at Oxford University.

His funeral was held in the chapel of Hampton Court Palace at 11.30 on May 1st. The family request that donations if wished be sent to the RNIB through Alan Greenwood & Sons of Weybridge – telephone 01932 821268.

On behalf of the Society and its officers, I have extended our sympathies to his family: his widow Lesley and their children Matthew and Marta.
