Owen Hughes

Son of Riley Hughes and Mary Ann Hughes née O'Maley of 31 York Road, Teddington

Born 11th September 1892 at Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey

Joined the Royal Navy in 1909 as Ordinary Seaman and visited Australia with his ship.

Later served as Able Seaman (J/6007) on H.M.S."Ghurka”, a Tribal-class destroyer.

The ship was mined and sunk in the English Channel on 8th February 1917

and Owen Hughes was killed, aged 24 years.

He has no other grave but the sea.
