Alexander Hermann Dundas

Son of John and Rhoda Dundas

Born 11th February 1883 at Richmond, Surrey

Royal Navy Crew Member on HMS Prince George in 1901

Married Betsy Smith Bowman on 16th July 1908 at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Teddington

Metropolitan Police Constable (P.C.278) stationed at Teddington Police Station 1908-1914.

Lived at 72 Coburg Road, Teddington in 1911 and 70 Connaught Road, Teddington in 1914.

Leading Seaman (199405 (R.F.R.PO.B.2011) (Po) with the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.

He was recalled for active service engaged on coastal protection duty on an armed liner in the North Sea and was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal in 1915.

He was killed in action when the auxiliary cruiser "Alcantara" was sunk during a battle with the German raider "Greif" in the North Sea on 29th February 1916.

His body was not recovered for burial. No known grave but the sea.
