James Drinkwater
Son of George Henry Drinkwater and Mary Kathleen Drinkwater née Timmins
of 71 Wick Road, Teddington (Both buried in Teddington Cemetery)
Born about 1898 at Ballymoney, County Wexford, Ireland
Employed as a milkman living at The Cottage, Thames Street, Hampton in 1915
Enlisted on 21st July 1915 at East Molesey (Surrey) whilst living at Teddington
as Private (9962) with the East Surrey Regiment, 12th Battalion
He claimed his age as 19 years 3 months, although he was only 17 years old at that time.
His mother sent his birth certificate to the War Office to show that he was underage at the
time of his enlistment, who passed it around its offices until his eventual death in 1917.
Killed in action in France or Flanders on 7th June 1917, aged 19 years
Listed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Flanders, Belgum
