Walter ("Wally") James Brown
Son of Edwin and Harriett Mary Ann Brown
He was born around 1886 at Acton, Middlesex but lived in the Richmond area for most of his life.
Educated at Holy Trinity School at Richmond and later became a pupil teacher there.
Attended Goldsmiths College (London) and qualified as a teacher with Middlesex County Council. He taught for a time at Brentford, and in 1909 came to the Council School at Teddington as Assistant Master. He was a popular teacher and trained the football team which won the Schoolboy's Championship of Middlesex.

He was killed in action during the Battalion's storming of the trenches at Zonnebeke on 25th April 1915 and was buried in trenches nearby. He was 29 years old and unmarried.
