Alfred James Stephens

Son of Henry Stephens and Elizabeth Lucy Stephens of Teddington.

Born 14th January 1885 at Camberwell, Surrey

Married Maud Mabel Green on 12th November 1910 at Denbigh, Denbighshire, Wales

Enlisted on 22nd May 1907 at Wrexham and moved from Malta with his regiment upon outbreak of WW1.

Promoted on account of former service as Company Sergeant Major (9456) with Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 1st Battn.

Wounded at Lille in October 1914 and was recommended for award or promotion for bravery at Festubert.

Killed in action during the battle at Loos on 25th September 1915, aged 30

Listed on Loos Memorial, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France (Panel 50 to 52)
