Middle Lane 25 “My cottage is situated on the footpath between Elleray Hall and North Lane.I bought the cottage in 1988 when the main conversion was already done. I believe it was built in 1820 although the records suffered in a fire during the second world war, I think. Before my part of Middle Lane became a footpath it was one of the ancient lanes of Teddington and the cottage faced St. James' Farm, the last dairy farm in Teddington, when the recently demolished Depot building was the working building of the farm and farmyard, with a single story pantiled farm cottage beyond that, where the car park is now. I have a lovely walled back garden where I found an old cinder path which led down the centre of the garden in the old days to the Queen Dowager pub land, before 47 North Lane was built".
