John Walter Cox

Son of John Cox and Margaret Emily Cox née Robinson of 10 Walpole Crescent, Teddington

Born 23 February 1892 at Teddington as a member of the very large Cox family of Teddington.

Baptised 22 May 1892 at St Mary’s Church, Teddington (as Walter John Percival Cox)

Employed for some time by Messrs. Armatage of Broad Street and subsequently by Mr H.A. Job of the High Street.

Enlisted at Teddington in Sep 1914, and after training in Cornwall and Scotland he arrived in France around Mar 1915.

Lance Corporal (6298) with Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), 3rd Battalion

He went all through the fighting for Hill 60 and escaped unharmed, but was killed at Ypres on 9th May 1915.

He was 22 years old and due to have been married in the summer.
