George Stanley Davey

Son of Thomas George Davey and Phoebe Ellen Davey née Bates

of 29 Argyle Road, Teddington, Middlesex

Spouse of Winifred Lilian Davey née Loveday

of 10 Beechway, Twickenham, Middlesex

Born 13th July 1910 at Teddington, Middlesex

Served in the Royal Navy from 1926 to about 1928

Believed to have been a fitter’s mate at Fulwell Bus Station, Middlesex

Re-enlisted as Able Seaman (P/JX 126615) on the Destroyer H.M.S. Exmouth

Died 21st January 1940 when his ship was torpedoed by German U-boat U22

at Tarbett Ness in the Moray Firth, Scotland, aged 29 years

The ship was lost with all hands – 174 men and 15 officers.

Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial

Listed on the Fulwell Bus Garage War Memorial 1939-1945
