Ernest Bertram Lane

Son of Alfred William Lane and Annie Maria Lane of Kingston and Teddington

Born about September 1892 at Walthamstow, Essex

Lived at Sunbury On Thames, Thames Ditton and Teddington

A Merchant Navy seaman, he served at sea for three years as the ship's barber on the 'Arcadia',

'Nevasa', 'Highland Pride' and 'Highland Piper'

Rifleman (5364), London Regiment, 16th (County of London) Battn.(Queen's Westminster Rifles)

Married Jessie Gladys Haynes at Kingston in 1916

Killed in action in France on 10th September 1916, aged 23

Buried at Serre Road Cemetery No. 2, Beaumont-Hamel, Picardie, France (Grave Ref.XXXI.E.9)
