Percy John Thomas Nelhams

Son of Thomas Nelhams and Lilian Nelhams née Woods

of 23 Victor Road, Teddington

Born 17th May 1914 at Victor Road, Teddington

Heavy labourer of 21 Stanley Road, Teddington in 1939

Merchant Navy Fireman in 1944

One of forty-seven Merchant Navy Seamen traveling back to England as ‘Passengers’

(Distressed British Seaman), probably on account of being rescued from a ship which

had already sunk, on the 'SS Empire Heritage' when it was sunk on 8th September 1944

off the coast of Malin Head, Donegal with the loss of one-hundred and thirteen lives.

Commemorated on the Tower Hill (Merchant Navy) Memorial, Greater London
